Ever wonder how the Pro’s do those sick skateboard tricks? Now you can master those tricks – anything from: ollies, rails, stairs, curbs, flips, ledges and bowls to air – jump to Facebook and let your friends know that you’ve nailed a trick, find the closest skate park, buy a skateboard and accessories, or hop to Strange Notes to check what’s happening in the skateboarding world with GoLearn Skateboarding Explained, brought to you by Whagaa Software, Dan MacFarlane (creator of the #1 instructional skateboarding DVD in the world, Skateboarding Explained*), Santa Cruz Skate and Surf Shop, Strange Notes and NHS Fun Factory (Independent Trucks, Creature, Santa Cruz, Krux, Ricta, Mob Grip, and Flip).

Pro Dan MacFarlane and the Santa Cruz Skate and Surf Shop Experts show you how to nail the tricks with step-by-step video instruction and tips. You’ll also learn how to repair your skateboard (trucks, bearings, grip tape and more) and the proper safety gear.

“Our perception of what the skateboarder needs as functionality comes from a lifetime of involvement. Skaters want to see different tricks performed by different people in different places. By providing an intimate discussion of how to re-thread a truck axle or walking you through doing a Miller Flip, it’s as if we are speaking directly to the skater. Couple that with a GPS-driven Skate Park Locator for the traveling skater and the GoLearn Skateboarding Explained application is unparalled in today’s market. Our partnership’s with Whagaa, Skateboarding Explained and NHS is an exciting one allowing us to transform our vision of Action Sport applications into reality,” comments Danny Keith, CEO of Santa Cruz Skate and Surf Shop.

With the GPS Skate Park locator, you always have a place to skate – you can find a park near you, get a map, and then let your friends know where to meet you.**

Strange Notes gives you access to free videos from skateboarding’s top pros twice weekly, the latest Skateboarding news, events, contests, RSS feeds, and lets you enter monthly contests on StrangeNotes.com so you can win skateboard decks, trucks, clothing, gear, wheels and more.

You can purchase decks, bearings, grip tape, shoes, clothing or whatever you need in the world of skateboarding in the NHS Fun Factory Store directly from the App.

Almost Chaos in Santa Cruz Skate and Surf Shop 1pm Saturday November 19th

Almost Chaos is a classic rock/reggea/funk/folk band from Santa Cruz, CA.  At just 14 and 15 years old the members include Jose Picazo, Derek Mather, Mac Hesson and Cameron Smith. The four member band came together in 2008 at just 11 and 12 years old, through a community music program called “Be in Your Own Band”.  With the guidance of Nat Condit-Shultz the young musicians released their first CD in November of 2009.  With seven original songs the band soon began playing at local events.  “One gig led to another” says Jose Picazo and soon the band was scheduled  for over 100 gigs in 2009-2010.  Since then the band has raised over $40,000.00 for local schools and community charities, including “Jacobs Heart”.
Almost Chaos has been recognized by the Mayor of Santa Cruz and Congressman Sam Farr for their “contribution to their community”.  It has been their pleasure to play at “the Catalyst, the Crows Nest, Britannia Arms, the Rio Theater, the Monterey Strawberry Festival, the Monarch Butterfly Festival, Your Music Magazines/Music Olympiks. (just to name a few).  Their second CD is scheduled for release in summer 2011 and will include 10 original songs.  You can catch them at upcoming shows:  “Capitola Art and Wine Festival, Watsonville’s Fathers Day Celebration at Ramsey Park, Monterey Strawberry Festival, and Hot Rods for Kids” Check them out online at:  www.myspace.com/josederekmac or Facebook (Almost Chaos).

One thing we have to appreciate are the Veterans. Coming from a family where my dad was in the Navy, my Father in Law was in the Marines and where my uncle gave his life for what he believed to be a free country and the right to enjoy that freedom. I have numerous friends that are serving and have served, I cannot appreciate the Veterans enough for their service. My good buddy and SC Family Adam “Flex” Flechsig hit me up on Facebook asking if I was going to plan anything for Veterans Day as a recognition…and it got me thinking…SC can do something different this Veterans Day. What I came up with was this:

All day on 11-11-11 a % of our sales are going to go to the Wounded Warrior Project per Adam’s request. In addition ANY VETERAN can come into the store and get COST on anything in the shop. All you have to do is tell us that you are a Veteran…From 4 to 7 I am inviting All Veterans to come down to the store and hang out and I am also asking everyone to come in and thank these men and women who put their lives on the line for your freedoms, so we can surf, skate and sell items freely.

Veterans please come and have the people of Santa Cruz County recognize your service and appreciate you for the dedication you have shown to this great county .

If you cannot come down to the store, then please Thank A Veteran for their service, buy them a cup of coffee, buy them breakfast or just shake their hand look them in the eye and genuinely thank them not just today but everyday. If you happen to want to show your respect visit http://www.mcvvm.org and make the trip.
