Kyle Buthman has just released the unofficial teaser trailer for Get Rad 2…check it out. SC Family members will have a well rounded showing. Got to see it on the big screen during “Ruffo” screening…its gonna be mental! Stay tuned….

Reflecting on last weeks run of pumping south swell, I can’t imagine many things better than being with friends, running around with our heads cut off and thought of all our local lineups dishing out more waves than the human body could deal with. It seemed every time I got a phone call it was someone spazzing out about how good the surf was and were the next location was going to be going off next. Looking at all the photos surfacing over the last few days, I’ve come to the conclusion that almost everywhere had amazing waves and getting them might have been easier than finding a parking spot.

Browsing Surfline’s swell feature, I was pumped to see the photo’s from a few of our local photographers and friends reaping the benefits. My mate Seth de Roulet came up to shoot and distribute his latest creative endeavor, the Central Coast Chronicles. Luckily were were able to get some work done alongside local boys Matt Myers and Tyler Fox who were captured in action by Ryan “Chachi” Craig. In case you missed out on all the fun, check the links below for more of what may be our biggest south swell of the season. Fingers crossed it’s a sign of more to come soon, GET SOME.

I usually go through fazes when it comes to deciding whether to paint my new surfboard or not, and for the past year or so I’ve been in full painting mode! If it’s not myself spraying the board, I look to none other than Rosie Young mother or Santa Cruz’s most lethal surfer Nat Young.

I don’t really do any other artwork, so spray painting surfboards allows me to express my artsy side. I generally work by using bright paint, tape, paint pens, stencils, and even dish soap.

Airbrushing is fun

The cool thing is anybody can do it, and the best way to learn is by doing. You just have to go for it. It’s funny how I never really know how it’s going to turn out until I peel that last piece of tape off.

Hope you like my work!
Leave some feedback too.

Also… hit me up if you want to get a board painted.

Matt Myers on his way to the $500!

With the Pismo Pier glistening in the early am sun, the day was finally upon us and the biggest set-up ever at a regional event, it was time to get this party started. We began sign-ups and noticed that we had competitors from all over the state and knew it was going to be a battle for those valuable points. With some educated planning for running double areas and a the greatest team pep talk since Lombardi it was time to kick off the final Goldfish event of the year.

The day brought beautiful weather, great surfing, and some epic burrito tossing. Here are some standouts from the day. The Girls division had three heats and with some fierce competition. When the dust settled it was Lee Ann Curren taking home the win and 1,000 points towards qualifying for the 2011 VQS Champs. The Squids are the greatest thing since sliced bread. These guys have the best time in the world and are just happy to be on the beach. We had ton of future talent and when it was all over and done with it was Dimitri Polous grabbing the win. A big thank you to the Fantastic Frozen Flavors for buying all the squids ice cream after their finals. The Groms division had all the usual suspects in the final – it was Colin Deveze nudging out Brogie Penesi for the win and a brand spanking new Team Associated RC Trophy Truck. Taylor Curren was leading the charge all day for the Juniors and walked away with $250.00 bucks courtesy of Muscle Milk. Those crazy Pro-dudes came out in full effect with big names from all over the golden state including Josh Hoyer from Newps who took home the $100.00 Electric Volt Thrower move of the event. When the dust settled in the final it was Matt Meyers grabbing a heap of prizes as well as $500.00 cold hard cash.
